Animation and Actionscript adds Interactivity

flash web sites

Animation and Actionscript can add a lot to a website or web page, and one way to do that is by using Adobe Flash. Flash is a multimedia creation platform that is used to add video, animation and interactivity. Its use in advertising has been quite common in the past, and it has been used to make an endless number of online games. Providing users with both sound and interactivity in flash increases the realization of a script or file, just like the difference between a picture and a movie. Without sound and interactivity a person may become bored or not even interested in viewing a webpage. But add movement, sound and some form of interactivity to the page and it becomes much more interesting for viewers.

Animation and Actionscript Examples

HTML5 is becoming the standard now, so flash may not be used as much as it was in days past, but I still enjoy playing around with it. I have it on hand, so why not. Anyways, to get back on point. I was doing some research for a project on the Internet not so long ago and found a couple examples of Flash pages that put sound and interactivity to good use and some examples of Flash sites that I think use sound and navigation/interaction extremely poorly and just thought I would share it with our readers. The first really good one is Waterlife. This site tells the story of the Great Lakes, and is awesome to view and navigate around in. The site can be found at The second one I like is was designed to celebrate the Fortieth anniversary of the Apollo 11 Lunar landing by developing an interactive recreation of the event (eBizMBA Inc., 2012). This site can be found at .

Here are two bad examples of Flash movies that I found during my research: The World’s Worst Website at and LingsCars at Both of these sites have way too much going on at one time. There are scrolling sentences, flashing images and even someone talking and singing throughout the time someone is visiting the LingsCars site. It is very hard to concentrate on any one item at either of the sites.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoyed these examples. And remember, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.
